How It All Began

A Recipe Born From Family & Passion

Dion's story starts in a family kitchen in New Mexico, where founder Dion Cervantes spent years perfecting his grandmother's pizza dough recipe. What began as a labor of love quickly became a neighborhood obsession — friends, family, and neighbors lining up just to taste a slice.

In 1978, Dion opened the first official Dion's location in Albuquerque, NM, fueled by the belief that great pizza starts with honest ingredients, careful preparation, and genuine care for every customer who walks through the door.

Today, Dion's serves the greater New Mexico community from our Los Lunas location, staying true to those original values: fresh dough made daily, hand-sliced vegetables, and a warm welcome for every guest.

1978

The First Oven Is Lit

Dion Cervantes opens the original Dion's location in Albuquerque, NM. The menu features just three pizzas and a handful of sandwiches — all made from scratch every day.

1985

Expansion & Recognition

Dion's earns its first "Best Pizza in New Mexico" award from a regional publication. A second location opens to meet growing community demand.

1997

The Ranch Dressing Revolution

Dion's introduces its now-legendary house-made ranch dressing. The response is so overwhelming that it becomes a permanent fixture on every table — and a product in its own right.

2008

Los Lunas Opens Its Doors

Dion's expands to Los Lunas, NM, bringing the same beloved recipes and warm atmosphere to a new corner of the state. The community response is immediate and enthusiastic.

2019

Digital Ordering & Loyalty Program

Dion's launches online ordering and a customer loyalty program, making it easier than ever for regulars to get their favorite pizza delivered fresh to their door.
